It turns out I was mistaken.
If I’m going to drink this stuff by the boatload, it should be high-quality.
I’ve become a fizzy water snob.
What’s the Difference Between Fizzy Waters?
Seltzer Water: Plain water carbonated with carbon dioxide without added minerals or sodium.
It’s neutral, so you’ll often find it in a variety of flavors.
Popular brands are La Croix, Polar, Hal’s, and Spindrift.
Popular club soda brands include Canada Dry, Polar, Seagram’s, Schweppes, and Fever-Tree.
If both carbonation and minerals naturally occur, it’s called mineral water.
The flavor can vary depending on where the water is sourced and the specific minerals found in it.
Popular sparkling water brands include Perrier, San Pellegrino, and Topo Chico.
Our editors picked it as the best-tasting sparkling beverage with the strongest fizz.
Associate Social DirectorBrooke Schuldtsays Topo Chico “tastes like sparkling water served at a fancy restaurant.”
Smaller, tighter bubbles tend to mean more refined.
Topo Chico sources mineral water from Cerro del Topo Chico in northern Mexico.
Both the carbonation and minerals are naturally occurring, so the bubbles are more delicate.
Topo Chico has become my go-to fizzy water, and I buy it by the case at Costco.
It’s worth every penny.
