Heat over medium-high heat.
Cook, stirring occasionally, until crispy, about 5 minutes.
Use a slotted spoon to remove the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate leaving the grease in the skillet.
Add the onion and saute until translucent and starting to brown a little bit, about 2 minutes.
Add the cabbage, sugar, salt, and pepper.
Remove from the heat and add the cooked bacon to the mixture and stir.
Taste, adding salt and pepper as needed, and serve.
