Reduce the heat to medium and add the garlic to the same skillet.
Cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant, about 30 seconds.

Stir in the tomatoes, broth, and remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon pepper.
Cook, stirring occasionally, until the tomatoes are softened and bursting, about 4 minutes.
